The Titrets® Test Method

Titrimetric Analysis

Snap Tip • Draw Sample & Mix • Read

Titrets ampoules use reverse titration to quantify concentrations. With the valve assembly securely in place, snap the tapered end of the ampoule using the Titrettor device (Step 1). The vacuum inside the ampoule is preserved by this valve assembly.

Insert the ampoule into the Titrettor. Immerse the end of the valve assembly into the sample and using the Titrettor control arm, draw in precisely controlled quantities of sample (rocking the assembly gently after each addition) until permanent colour change signals that the equivalence point has been reached (Step 2).

Once the end point is achieved, remove the ampoule from the Titrettor and hold it upright. The liquid level corresponds to the concentration value (ppm) on the printed scale on the ampoule's outer surface (Step 3).

Why Titrets?

Simplified Titration

Conventional titration techniques need to be performed in a laboratory with access to the appropriate reagents, distilled water and titration equipment. Preparation, set up and titration procedure can be time consuming and there is an extensive post-test clean up. Titrations with CHEMetrics Titrets are much simpler and safer because the chemistry is contained in the ampoule, employing CHEMetrics patented reverse titration technology. Everything required to perform 30 titration tests is included in the small, portable test kit box.

PREMIXED • PREMEASURED • PRECISE

CHEMetrics patented, self-filling ampoules simplify and speed up water testing procedures. Tests can be performed in the field as well as the laboratory, in minutes, both safely and accurately. They eliminate the potential inaccuracies associated with manual sample measurement. more

Specification

Titrets ampoules use reverse titration to quantify analyte concentrations. Each glass ampoule is 13 mm in diameter, with a tapered, pre-scored tip, and a flexible valve assembly attached; liquid titrant is vacuum-sealed inside; indicator is normally inside the valve assembly. As this is a titrimetric, not colourimetric analysis, no colour comparators are necessary.

A Titrets Test Kit includes: 30 ampoules with valve assemblies, a titrettor, accessory solution(s) (when necessary), sample cup, and instructions. Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are available here.
