V-2000 Method Revision Update

Overview:

The CHEMetrics V-2000 Multi-Analyte Photometer is a portable, handheld instrument that can be used for measuring analyte concentrations in conjunction with Vacu-vials or COD Test Kits. For product information, please see the Instruments page.

The V-2000 contains all calibrations required for use with photometric test kits in the CHEMetrics range, both Vacu-vials or COD Vials. The V-2000 makes use of internally stored calibration software, which CHEMetrics periodically upgrades. Each update or calibration software version is given a Method Revision Update number. This contains all the latest calibration updates and also new calibrations for any newly launched photometric test kits (if applicable). The calibration updates are software changes to the calibrations in the Method Revision Software on the V-2000 rather than physical changes to the Vacu-vials and COD vials test kits.

The latest V-2000 Method Revision is 13.0.

All newly purchased V-2000s come as standard with the latest calibration software.

For existing users, CHEMetrics has provided an update program that can be downloaded from our Galgo web site. This software program automatically updates your V-2000 to the latest Method Revision. It is an .exe file that is guaranteed by Galgo as being virus free. The step-by-step procedure for updating your V-2000 is described on this web page and also in Chapter 5 of your V-2000 Operator's Manual. You may elect to either perform this procedure yourself, in accordance with the instructions below, or return the unit to Galgo to have us perform this update for you, free of charge, returning the unit to you within 3-5 working days after receipt.

To determine which method revision is currently present on your V-2000 instrument, simply turn the instrument on. As the instrument powers up, the method revision number is displayed briefly. If Method Revision 13.0 is displayed, then you already have the latest software calibration and no action is required.

We always recommend that analysts have the latest version of the V-2000 calibration software on their units to ensure optimal accuracy. A Method Update History is shown below, to show the enhancements and/or additions between subsequent versions.

Equipment You Will Need to Upgrade your V-2000:

Connecting a computer to the V-2000 requires the use of the RS-232 serial cable supplied with the V-2000. This cable has a special 3-pin connector on one end for the V-2000. The RS-232 port is on the underside of the instrument. When connecting the RS-232 cable to a computer, a serial connector may be required (a 25 pin male to 9 pin male adapter is included with the V-2000).

If your computer does not have a serial port, you will need to purchase a separate adapter that will allow you to connect the V-2000 RS-232 serial cable to the USB port on your computer. The following USB to serial adapters are compatible with multiple computer operating systems:
