Sample dilution can be used to extend the range of the kits and to mitigate interferences or sample discolouration or turbidity. Dilution must be preformed accurately to minimise the introduction of errors. Sample dilution is also not appropriate for all analytes, for instance, alkalinity, carbon dioxide, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH and ozone.
CHEMetrics offers a variety of test kits in different ranges to suit the majority of requirements, including VACUettes Visual Test Kits which utilise patented auto-dilution for use with concentrated samples. CHEMetrics also offers a wide range of dilution accessories for use with selected kits, including MiniPets®, dilution tips and sample cups.
Sample Dilution Kit A-0188
Several dilution accessories are combined into the CHEMetrics Sample Dilution Kit, catalogue number A-0188, for a wide range of dilution range requirements. This is an accessory kit for use in conjunction with selected CHEMetrics test kits that allows the end user to perform convenient dilutions between 10x and 5000x prior to analysis in the normal manner.
The Sample Dilution Kit contains all equipment necessary to perform 30 sample dilutions, except distilled water: 3 ml syringe, 5 MiniPets®*, 30 pipette tips, 25 ml sample cup, 50 ml sample cup and test instructions. MiniPet® is a registered trademark of Tricontinent Scientific, Inc.
Each A-0171 pipette tip is designed to be used only once. All other components of the dilution kit are re-useable. All the kit components are available separately for specific dilution requirements. Whilst a generic test procedure is supplied with the Sample Dilution Kit, the specific test procedure for the analyte test kit you are using (e.g. Glycol) takes precedence.
Simply select the components required for the dilution you wish to perform from the table below. Dispense the specified volume of sample into the appropriate sample cupand dilute to the specified total volume with distilled water. Then use this diluted solution in conjunction with the normal procedure for the analyte test kit you are using, e.g. Chlorine. Take the result from this test and multiply it by the appropriate multiplication factor below, yielding the actual concentration value for the original undiluted sample.
If you are using the MiniPet® to dispense the sample, first place the yellow pipette firmly onto the end of the appropriate MiniPet® . Then depress the plunger on the MiniPet. Immerse the yellow tip in the water sample and release the plunger. This will draw the sample into yellow tip . Hold the MiniPet® over the selected sample cup and depress the plunger to dispense the sample .
